Team Challenge Division
This division is for teams with 6+ players with at least 3 Men and 3 Women. Each Match includes 1 Men’s Doubles Line, 1 Women’s Doubles Line, and 1 Mixed Doubles Line, for a total of 9 games played per Match. JOIN Pickleball has had over 125 Team Challenge teams competing across multiple skill categories this past year, and has crowned 16 teams as Team Challenge League Champions. Those League Champions have received a “Golden Ticket” invitation to the Inaugural Atlanta Pickleball Championship to compete for the chance to compete against other teams to be named the city’s Atlanta Pickleball Champion in their respective Skill Category.
Flex – Coed Doubles Division
This division is for teams of 2-4 players. Matches are best of 3 games. Teams are coed and can be composed of Men, Women, or Mixed. JOIN Pickleball had over 200 Flex teams that participated over the past year across Basic, Intermediate, and Competitive Skill Categories, vying to win their respective leagues. 30 Flex-Coed Doubles League Champions have been crowned since last Fall, and all of these Team Champions have received a “Golden Ticket” invite to compete against other Doubles Teams in the Atlanta Pickleball Championship Flex division for their respective Skill Category.

How do I play?
The Atlanta Pickleball Championship is an event where JOIN Pickleball League Champions, Teams (Team Challenge & Flex-Coed Doubles) and Non-JOIN Pickleball Teams can compete for the title of Atlanta Pickleball Champions in their respective Skill Category.
What Is the Cost To Play?
The registration cost for the APC is $49/person. Golden Ticket teams receive a 30% discounted rate to play.
What does the Registration Cost include?
Your registration fee covers your event participation (at least 2 matches guaranteed), event premium sport wicking shirt, player bag, event swag, play at Atlanta Athletic Club private courts, Vendor Village, champion & 2nd place awards/prizes for each category, and non-participating teammates and friends are welcome to attend and cheer you on.
What time should I arrive?
Players must check-in 30 minutes before your first scheduled match. Match schedules will be released a week before the event.
Will there be food and drinks?
There will be food & beverages available for purchase on-site.
Can others attend the event?
We encourage friends & family to come out and watch the fun. All players must be registered for the event in order to participate.
What Skill Category will my team play?
Teams’ Skill Categories for the APC are based on teams’ current skill categories when registering for the event. The event Skill Category determination follows the JOIN Pickleball Rules:
- Team Challenge: A team is placed into a Skill Category based on the average of the 8 highest skill levels on the team.
- Flex-Coed Doubles: A team is placed into a Skill Category based on the highest ranked player on the team.
How To Play
Atlanta Pickleball Championship RULES
Atlanta Pickleball Championship rules follow USAPA & JOIN Pickleball rules other than Event Rules noted below.
- Registration
- All players must register online by the registration deadlines.
- Players must be at least 18 years old to participate.
- Players can only play on 1 team roster within each division of the tournament (Team Challenge and Flex-Coed Doubles). I.e., A player can be on ONE Team Challenge Team but can also be on a Flex-Coed Doubles Team.
- Skill Categories:
- A Team’s Skill Category for the APC is based on the team members’ current Skill Level when they register for the event.
- Team Challenge Skill Category: A team is placed into a Skill Category based on the average of the 8 highest skill levels on the team.
- Flex-Coed Doubles Skill Category: The Skill Category is based on the Team’s Roster and determined by the highest skill level player on the team.
- Team Requirements:
- Team Challenge teams must have at least 6 players registered, and meet the minimum requirement of 3 Men and 3 Women, dependent on your respective Skill Category.
- Flex-Coed Doubles teams must have at least 2 players registered and can be composed of Men, Women, or be Mixed (Women & Men).
- Team Challenge Match Format:
- Each Match plays 3 Lines (Men’s Doubles, Women’s Doubles, Mixed Doubles) with each Line counting as a point.
- Each Line plays best 2 out of 3 games.
- Games are played to 11, win by 2.
- The Team that wins at least 2 of the 3 Lines (or points) wins the match.
- Flex-Coed Doubles Match Format:
- Each Match plays 1 coed doubles match (men and/or women allowed).
- The match plays best 2 out of 3 games.
- Games are played to 11, win by 2.
- The Team that wins at least 2 of the 3 games wins the match.
- Participants must check-in 30 minutes prior to their first match time. Schedules will be released a week before the event.
- Tournament rainout date is Sunday, October 27th at Atlanta Athletic Club.
- No refunds will be provided.
